The Stewardology Podcast
Introducing The Stewardology Podcast: Where Financial Stewardship and Theology meet. In this show, Financial Advisor Tim Russell and Reverend Drew Gysi come together to explore the intersection of financial stewardship and theology. Their unique perspectives help Christians and churches understand and apply a Biblical framework for every day financial decisions. Join us as we release an episode every Tuesday so Christians everywhere can improve and strengthen their walk with Christ through Biblical Stewardship.
The 5 Biblical Sequential Priorities of Stewardship
The Bible lays out a clear framework for how Christians should steward their money and assets. Since we are stewards of God’s resources, it is our responsibility to know, understand, and apply what God’s Word says about Biblical financial stewardship.
Listen as we discuss in detail the 5 Biblical Sequential Priorities of Financial Stewardship on our podcast, The Stewardology Podcast.
In Haggai Chapter 1, verses 1-15 we see the nation of Israel return to their land along with their charge and challenge by God to rebuild the temple. This Biblical account lays the context of proper Biblical stewardship. Read the episode outline here.
The 5 Biblical Sequential Priorities of Financial Stewardship
When we say “Biblical Sequential Priorities,” what do we mean?
- Biblical – That means that the Bible is the basis upon which these principles were developed.
- Sequential – There is an order that the principles need to be considered and applied. Principle 2 does not come before principle 1 or #4 until we have completed #3.
- Priorities – Each of these principles are important because they reflect part of the character and heart of God. We should seek to implement the following 5 priorities in our lives:
Giving to the Lord is our first priority and privilege (Proverbs 3:9, Luke 6:38, Malachi 3:8-11). We give because God gave (John 3:16). Read the episode outline here.
Because family is our second priority, we should build savings to protect our family (Proverbs 22:3, 1 Timothy 5:8). Read the episode outline here.
After we complete the first four priorities, it is right to enjoy what God has richly provided for us (1 Timothy 6:17). Read the episode outline here.
Because God cares about priorities, our personal financial stewardship should align with His priorities.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12:2a).
