This week’s episode is going to be a little different. Rather than Drew and Tim going back and forth discussing important and interesting content about the intersection of Stewardship and theology, today we are going to be exploring the concept of investing in such a way as to make the world a better place

Creation Mandate – Genesis 1:28 ESV “And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over [it].”

Rather than teaching that Christians can abuse and distort creation, mankind was given the role to care for and tend creation. After the fall of man, this role developed into restoration.

Genesis 3:17–19 ESV …“cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

While this text points us to the painful reality of the Curse on creation, it also points to our role to work against the curse for our survival. Our efforts are to make the world a better place where human beings can flourish and even better reflect the image of God within them. We are to be a downpayment of the great curse reversal which was promised in Genesis 3:15, secured at the resurrection of Christ, and will be brought to fulfillment in the New Heavens and New Earth.
